Dr. Thomas Schiestel

Dr. Thomas Schiestel is head of membrane group at the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology (IGB) in Stuttgart since 2019.

He studied chemistry at Saarland University and completed his doctoral work on ultratrace electrochemical analytical methods for radionuclides in 1994. After five years at the Institute for New Materials in Saarbrücken, where he developed nanoparticles for medical applications, he joined IGB in 2000. Since 2002 he is responsible for the development of new membranes at IGB.
