Dr. Thomas Fischer

Thomas Fischer is a senior scientist at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the University of Cologne, Germany. With a background in chemistry, he is leading the gas phase deposition and materials characterization activities of the Materials- and Nanochemistry group (Prof. Sanjay Mathur). Since its establishment in 2021, he is also a member of the Sustainability Council of the University of Cologne and coordinates the topical interest group “Sustainability in Research”. His teaching and contributions to science to were recognized in the “Teaching Award” (2008) of the student council of the Department of Chemistry (University of Cologne), and the “Global Young Investigator Award” (2018) of the American Ceramic Society, amongst others.
